Fuse the Old South with Sweden, Norway, & the Orient; mix science with art, linear-direct with spiral-evolution, fairy tales with quantum chemistry, rainbows with spectroscopy, and then stir with synchronicity...and you will begin the concatenation to some of the sum of my parts.
I’ve dined with Linus Pauling, lunched with Carl Sagan, and partied with Roald Hoffman; solved a 125+ yr-old mystery about green blood in humans, and researched the effects of diabetes on oxygen uptake and release. Taught at KSU and Vassar, chaired a small town community college chem. department, and prided myself on helping the “D” students make the turn-around to become B students and enter the pathway to their dreams. (And been fussed at by “leading scientists” for wasting my time talking to students about careers in chemistry/biophysics.) I’ve battled sexism, ageism, and the surprising prejudice against redheads...and now I’m finding joy and inspiration in ‘two sticks and a string’- a daily knitting meditation about making our own fabric and bringing imagination to life. My inspirations come from colors, ancient cultures, and the beauties of nature. Modern discoveries of the past link me to my archeologist ancestors via arm-chair adventures and the wonders of being alive NOW. Portions of my knitting resume:
